  3. Well, instead of an electric chair, they're taking the cockroach to a bug light, to be cooked. He was caught in too many kitchens. Yeah, it's weird, pulled it out of the 'needs work' file before it was ready.
I wanted to give the cartoon an antique prison feel when I first drew it a few years ago, so the guy on the right is an official from that era ready to read the bug his last rites. I still think that using a bug light to execute a bug is funny, but the set-up is still too unresolved to make sense. I'm already working on a new post and won't even bother to try to figure this one out. Thank you Tek, for the input. I value your opinion a lot.

Tango: You are right to not understand this cartoon, because it's not very good, ha ha, but I think it's fun to look at also. So thank you. I will do better!

  6. Thanks Chris, I should have given the gag idea to you, I'll bet you could have made it work.
I still feel that syndicate cartoonists have it easy, because they have editors to point out their fails before they get seen by anyone. I do have friends I can run these ideas by first, but they're not always available, so I push some gags through with a hope and a prayer.

  7. Good question Tek, why is Honest Abe on the right?

I like the idea, but I agree, I think it needs a few visual queues to tell us this is an electric chair for bugs. Maybe a guy throwing the switch where Abe is? A window with bars, handcuffs on the bug?

Great idea though! I still listed this as hysterical.

  8. Those are great ideas, Marcello, and I know they would help it to read better. You're a good problem solver, as usual.
But I was thinking... Instead of Abe, what if Harry Truman were the guy who throws the switch? Kind of get a Cold War twist going. What do you think?
