Nosy Neighbors

I don't have nosy neighbors, but I do get a lot of solicitors in my neighborhood, and rarely open the door unless it's someone I know... but I would answer the door every time a salesman knocked if I was able to transform myself into a hideous creature with groping tentacles and bulging, bloodshot eyes just for that moment. I imagine myself chasing them down the street, as they try to get into their car, fumbling, dropping their keys. I would love that. Is it wrong to have these thoughts??

  2. Hehehe, why not decent? These guests may enjoy to see him like this, a lot people would even pay a ticket for such a spectacle!

  3. Noooo, your just giving those of us who don’t come up with such clever ideas a bit of a pleasant day dream to enjoy! I’ll spend a few minutes now thinking about how much fun I'd have doing the same to the many telephone service people who seem to keep coming to our door. We even had one lot trying to sell us a better plan only to learn that we were already with them... mmm someone didn’t do their homework.

  4. Nope, not wrong, I gather most feel the same way. Ironically, the dude behind the door kind of looks like my dad...I know he has those same neighbors too. Bet he'd love to have these transformative super-powers.

  5. Wow, very creative body design! I'd hate to accidentally find myself in one of your nightmares!

  6. I think neighbors, who look decent and have monstrosity on their mind are more dangerous than this guy.

I have also had a similar idea of an ability to dramatically change my voice or appearance just for a few seconds. My favorite version was a glaring light with the intensity of the sun coming out of the mouth.

    Great drawing!

  11. Yeah Rod, I was pleased with the way those two came out. I really try to bring a lot of personality to faces, either to support the gag or just bring a laugh. Thank you.

I thank you all, for the uplifting and funny comments, glad you enjoy coming back again and again. That means a lot to me.

Jennifer, I tend to draw bald guys with glasses a lot because I think they're funny. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental!

Magyarix: A light with the intensity of the sun?? Wow, you're not content with just scaring salespeople a little, you want to take out the whole neighborhood. ha ha.

  12. YO! "BALD IS BEAUTIFUL," as my dad always says and (funny):) - Just wanted to come back and say thanks! Love it when you visit and comment on my blog - your insights are perfect. I have a piece I am slogging through and will definitely be posting for a 'bullpen session' in a few days. I did get :( when you said you weren't too keen on the smartphone girls. Is it the subject matter? Composition? Does it just look like ass? I did crop 2/3 of the image away - there is MUCH more to the composition but I can't reveal it all until after the conference in September. The AD from Simon and Schuster is doing impromptu evaluations of 1 piece per person on the jumbo screen and they are supposed to be kept under wraps until that occurs. (just a little back story)...

  13. Ha ha. No Jennifer, you're artwork is super. I was commenting on the subject matter ONLY. I've never seen a painting about happy smartphone users before, only my cartoon gags poking fun at adults obsessing over them. Never mind me. Your depiction is perfect for a technology themed piece for your portfolio.

  15. I LOVE the feedback you gave me today on my spooky themed piece. Thank you, thank you, thank you. That is exactly the type of commentary I am craving. Not too bold of you at all! GAH! Now I am in that disdainful position of what to do...WHAT TO DO???? You've given me so much to think about that I didn't even see/think about before. Poopballs...
It is awesome to begin seeing my work through experienced AD eyes. I truly believe it will make my work better and get me to that next level, so many millions of thanks again.

  17. I too live in a solicitation-prone neighborhood, & how I would relish being able to assume this avatar... In fact I could think of several other occasions when it might come in very handy as well! Do let me know your method if you perfect the transformation.

  18. I love it! If I could sew, I'd make a costume like this to wear for my solicitors :)
