Illustration Friday: "Mysterious"

Sorry for my absence lately, but I had a crazy-busy week. I'll try not to let that happen again. The absence, that is... crazy will still continue, of course.
The Ill. Friday word this week sparked another goofy idea from my head (just when I thought the cartoon bag was close to empty). heh heh.
The other day my brother showed me a bunch of my Grandfather's cartooning, the ones that he drew for us when we were kids. I always laugh at their funny gags every time I see them again. He was a very clever cartoonist, and a big inspiration in my life. I'm going to post all of his drawings soon, which continue to inspire me whenever I look at them. I was thinking of him when I thought of this canine burglary gag, which reminds me of something he would have come up with to make me laugh. What'dya know... he continues to inspire me.

Let me know what you think. Comments ALWAYS appreciated. -Ted

  1. I love the dog wagging its tail. Thats what makes it relly funny for me.

If my dog had opposable thumbs he would be breaking into the kitchen right now.

  2. Plain Old Ted, it's me, thanks for always being kind!
no worries, i havent blogging much lately, really busy with work and stuff too.

As for your mysterious dogs, there is so much i don't know about them.
I don't know how old they are.
    I don't know their breeds.
I have no idea what they looked like as a puppy.

    :D

  6. The dog wagging his tail is a riot. Super image with all the right elements. I love how minimalist you are able to keep things and yet still have much to look at. They look like my Ru and he would totally be the tail wagging dude. I love hearing about your Grandpa and his inspiration to you. It's a rarity to hear of artists being inspired and supported by family.
Thanks for all of your helpful feedback on my spooky piece. I did make some edits based on your advice - although I just couldn't kill off my little horn-y dude. Hope you will stop by and let me know if I improved it..............or royally ca-ca'd it up.

  9. Thanks for the super huge help and honest feedback. No, you are not alone in your thoughts about the lighting and some of the details on the new version. I, myself, felt like I had 'overworked' the piece. I just didn't trust my gut. But you and another, whose opinion I respect, both had the same reaction. I solidifies with me that I need to remove some of the adjustment layers I added at the very end. Ah! The beauty of photoshop :) Again, many thanks!

I agree, the fellow who just can't stop his tail from wagging is what nudges this from funny to hilarious.
