Hibernation: New School!

What if human beings needed to hibernate during the winter like many other mammals do? Think of all the winter sports we wouldn't have developed. You don't see bears snow skiing or tobogganing do you? They sleep through all that.
If humans had to hibernate I imagine they would do it like this bear, in style! Actually, I know quite a few people who would be quite comfortable in the above scenario.
If you had to hibernate, other than food and water, what would you absolutely want to have with you during your winter 'sleep'? Of course we would all need our phones and internet access, but what unique item would you just have to have to get you through the winter?

  3. Hah he looks comfortable..but his expression seems a bit angry?...I would imagine its something to do with the iphone message he just received from work asking "Where the hell have you been for the last six months!!!"
I would like food and drink to survive...but unique item would be a pen!

  4. Nice idea Ted...
I 'd like to have all Fyodor Dostoyevsky's books with me... but I don't think only one winter would be enough to read them!

  11. Haha, this is funny. The great thing about hibernation is you can eat a lot, have a good sleep, but still you'll wake up thinner.

  12. Ha, this bear definitely looks familiar!
I have a touch of claustrophobia, so hibernation is definitely not my cup of tea, but if I had to hole up all Winter I'd NEED my hula hoops! Otherwise I'd go out of my mind with antsiness. Of course I'd have to make art too, but I think I could find a way with the materials at hand. I'm quite fond of playing with food! ;-)

  13. Spam...now that is funny...we have the once a year rule on spam eating...I told my kids how my dad used to make fried egg, spam, cheese and mayo sandwiches after we saw a spam cookoff...they wanted to try it but I told them as good as it tasted you would feel really ill for about 12 hours...and that we could only do it once a year because it was so unhealthy you could die doing it twice...every time we see spam in the store they ask if the year has been up yet...nice cartoon and very timely lol....

  14. This is a very clever take on the topic (and I do some of this when it gets cold)!
Thanks for the comment on my blog, this particular dragon eats whatever he can and the pumpkin looked delicious!

  15. It's funny how the colder it gets, the more we use our electronics. It's at least nice to stay in and watch tv and eat, much like this bear :)
