Primitive Pastimes

This is how I imagine it all started; after some lunkhead dropped a perfectly good piece of slate the cave folk all got together to piece it back together. Before they knew it though, they had forgotten all about the breakage, and were engrossed in quiet conversation about all the various tribe gossip, about who had the best cave, which animals that they needed to club tomorrow, and well.. you know, just general puzzle-patter. From that point on, slate was smashed regularly around the campfire.

  1. Hilarious! I can imagine a small war breaking out when someone tried to force a piece into the wrong place!

  11. Superb illustration as always. I imagine that doing the rock puzzle would be a tricky puzzle indeed. Yet another illustration that has brightened my day and brought a smile to my face.

    thanks for stopping by,
Oh, this made me laugh a lot haha. I suppose, these puzzles, once solved could not hang on the wall right? :D

  14. Oh look! It looks like they are playing mahjong!!! Wow! Maybe that's how mahjong was invented. Oh wait, the Chinese did that so you have to draw ancient Chinese with very long ponytails and long silk gowns. Oh maybe you can draw how the Chinese discovered silk? I really like how you drew that woman's hair.

Reminds me of very early B.C. comic strip art by Johnny Hart. Some of my favorite images.
    nice sequencing

    same way?

  20. Puzzle origins - Haha I love this, especially the lounging posture of the one caveman as he works on the puzzle! And of course they'd be discussing various tribe gossip while puzzling.
