This Theme Park Is for The Birds.

I don't think my pet parrot would like this ride much, even if the entire feathered community was all abuzz about it. He might go on the Walnut and Grape Fantasy ride, though. He'll do anything for those favorite treats.
So, I was up late the other night trying to resolve a gag for the Illustration Friday word, but just couldn't make it funny. I tried, but I was 'Fading' fast and finally gave up. I decided to post this one instead because I'd already come up with it, just needed some color. Did I mention I was 'Fading' fast the other night...?

PS: Evidently, upgrading to the new Blogger interface solved my problem, so now my image can be enlarged again. Gosh, wasn't that a clever way to force us all to upgrade?

  3. HAHAHAHAHAHHAA! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE This! I am early today and here I am giggling in the kitchen waiting for coffee to brew. what do you do with these strips? I know you just do this for leisure because you have a full time artist job but these are funny and the Sunday section of the paper can use an injection of fresh humor.

I have the new blogger interface. I am sorry that some of the images are small. They are either medium or large but on some posts I actually revise the html code to convert the image size. So I delete the length and the width specifications and set the size to constant. I am sorry that I have to resort to this tactic. I have visitors from China and Washington DC visiting my blog on regular schedule everyday - every three hours I have bursts of up to five visits at a second interval and they come from sites I cannot verify. I also have visitors from Taiwan and Guangzou, China downloading images! Hmn? Do they love my work so much they spend up to 4 hours on my blog downloading drawings and paintings? They cannot be detected by just one site counter. I am sorry that sometimes I have to resort to this tactic. However, I post these images on Behance and Facebook and my Sunday painter blog.

  4. Ha ha! Very clever illustration, although I feel sorry for the employee who has to clean off the seats at the end of the ride.

  5. Hi Ted, I got it! (about the Park?????)
    Here it's called Ghost Train
I have shocked many times in this place when I was a child.
But if I were a bird, I think I would die in this place
The sling is what impresses me most.
Fun for us, I would not be a bird, indeed

  6. Good one. My poor parakeet goes through this ritual daily with our crazy cat Ben. I love looking at this one. Each time I 'get' something new out of it. Brilliant.

  7. This strip got me thinking-- I wonder what others species do just for thrills? Squirrels certainly seem to be all-around acrobatic dare-devils, & dogs chase cars... Some enterprising person could probably design a real-life pet theme park to delight animals of all stripes! If it happens you should demand royalties!

  8. Good work Ted. I love the birdies , they are nicely synchronically scared.

(Aside from the blogger interface upgrade : i never noticed any problems while viewing your drawings. I got it always big on my screen..... of course due to Apple :) )

  9. Ha ha! Love the kid with the rock! I think my studio mascot (hamster) would find that ride equally terrifying, although she might not recognize the danger of a guy with a gun....

  11. Haha! Really funny, Ted! :D

Btw, I had issue with blogspot image upload the other day too - I feel the bad usability is starting to get in the way. :(

  12. OK, Ted, you can tell your boss that you work at half speed, say that the page in your dictionary, which was the word "hurry" has mysteriously disappeared, ok?

Ah yes. I drew all these people talking on the phone. maybe I should have written on their shirts the name of the phone company and manage a discount on my monthly bill.
I am sending you a virtual hug :)

  13. Hahahaha! What's on the other end of that slingshot?

Every evening, my dad sneaks out and blasts a shot of cold water from the hose into the front trees. All the birds that roost there for the night and poop on the sidewalk drive him nuts. Hehehe

  14. Glad you clarified that, hehehe. I was imagining them dipping in for a bath and then relaxing with a bottle of Pepsi.

Actually, that's way more fun than poop.

I'll be back. I like mine with lotsa cream, lotsa sugar.
