You know the people who always pack way too much stuff when they travel? I imagine they wouldn't last long with this type of sport, where you have to weigh everything carefully, to find the lightest load that still has all you need to get you up and down steep inclines and in and out of the wilderness alive. Makes me tired just thinking about it, but I do like hiking. Just not the death-defying type. I mean, why defy nature when there is such great programming on the Travel Channel? And besides, when they return, the backpackers always show you all the scenic photos they took anyway.

This is a silly gag I drew for my brother, who loves to backpack deep into the wilderness so that he can stare death in the face and taunt his own mortality. Probably brushes his teeth with a pine cone, too.

Math Bullies!

If you spend all your time drawing and listening to music like Billy Jenkins here, the math bullies will find you and well, you better know your story problems, or else.

The Old Math Teacher Returns...

I don't think I ever finished a test before anyone else while in school, especially in a math class. I used to secretly hate those show-offs that did. I usually finished somewhere in the middle of the pack, but there were always those poor slobs who were last. The worst scenario was when we were allowed to go outside and play right after finishing, further humiliating those and myself that still struggled with the test inside. If I did manage to get done in time to play, sometimes I would come back inside all sweaty and one or two kids were just handing their tests in. That must have sucked for them.

Somethin' From The Archives

Drew this one back in 1983 for the 91X Radio Station newsletter. I must have thought it was funny back then but don't anymore. Just seems weird now, but I was probably influenced by the cologne-heavy 80s. I remember family members laughing at it, the women saying that there were actually people in dept stores who were like this guy. So I'll run it up the flagpole here. Check out that crazy square layout. And yes, that's Zipatone, the only way to apply dot screens back in 1983. Aint it charming.

The Distracted Clown

Here's my last gag about staring at phones when you should be paying attention. It was an old rough from a couple years ago that I decided to draw up today because it's still a valid problem. It's rare to pull up to any intersection in this town without seeing at least one driver staring down at their phone intensely, or typing on it, and continuing to stare at it as they drive off. I guess it bothers me particularly because I ride motorcycles, and it's dangerous enough riding motorcycles in L.A. without these 'screen zombies' behind the wheel of a speeding car. Laws have been made to curb this problem but there doesn't seem to be a solution that works. People just have to stare at screens 24/7, I guess.

Okay, that's all I have to say about that, I'll shut up now till my next post. Bye.

Too much? Yeah, maybe.
It started out as a drawing of these idiots bouncing inside their cave, not smart enough to move the trampoline outside. It evolved into this drawing because I couldn't get the caption to my liking. But add a splash of color, and suddenly they're stupid AND fearless!  heh heh.
