The Old Math Teacher Returns...

I don't think I ever finished a test before anyone else while in school, especially in a math class. I used to secretly hate those show-offs that did. I usually finished somewhere in the middle of the pack, but there were always those poor slobs who were last. The worst scenario was when we were allowed to go outside and play right after finishing, further humiliating those and myself that still struggled with the test inside. If I did manage to get done in time to play, sometimes I would come back inside all sweaty and one or two kids were just handing their tests in. That must have sucked for them.

  1. On no, this reminds me of myself (not the teacher, but the student) :))))))))

  4. Poor Billy. I always finished first. Does that mean you don't like me anymore?

    1. It figures you'd be one of those quick finishers. You're so competitive. Hey, save me a place in line at tetherball, I'll be outside soon.

  5. Oh yeah, this brings back memories! Especially the anxiousness you'd feel when you see your friends go out and play and all you can think of is just finishing the test as quickly as possible, even if that means sacrificing effort on your answers. It was fun in college though cause when you'd be done, you'd get to leave class :)

    1. Man, I agree. But I did like all that partying in college. I learned a lot about drinking.

  8. Haha, nice one! Yeah, school. Eww. I was rarely done soonest because there always seemed to be at least one question where I knew the *&&$$^^%*)&^ answer and just could not come up with it. School is dumb. (Unless you're a person in school who happens to read this. School is wonderful! Stay in school.) But seriously, teaching everyone in the exact same way is always going to leave a few people behind when the recess bell rings.

  9. Can I go play first and do the test afterwards?

  10. That exam must be difficult!
I was really bad at math in primary school, then really good during high school and then back to bad during university. I think it all depends on the teacher and motivation... I'm happy those days are over.

  11. Poor Billy Jenkins. The demolition crew has already started their job. I often wonder what happened to Billy. Perhaps you can draw a follow up cartoon? Happy weekend!

    1. I think that's a good idea. I need a continuing character like Rod's Gerald. hmmmmm. let me think about that.

  13. Poor Billy. I still have nightmares of not finishing on time, yuck. Yea, I remember the race to see who would finish first, it was always that same person walking back to their desk with that stinkin' smile on their face. Ha...

  14. I looked up all of the "math" or nerdy school type cartoons---perfect!! Love the way they are depicted and the absurdity of the kid still fartin around not getting to his test for what, maybe 20 years, yet he never ages while all else takes its course---funny stuff!!
