More Paleozoic Humor: "Missing The Old Neighborhood"

It was hard. Leaving all your friends and crawling up on land was not for the squeamish. We tend to forget the great fish pioneers of the Paleozoic, like the Gordons here. They knew the importance of fresh air and abundant sunshine. The timid stayed behind at first, not wanting to venture far from their comfort zones, but like every trend, word of the exciting, new frontier with the dirt-cheap real estate reached the depths, and suddenly EVERY TomFish, DickFish and HarryFish wanted lungs.

  4. Ted, the gag in this one is superb! It also makes me think of it as a metaphor too for those instances in life when we might seem to "evolve" faster than some of our friends, whether it's settling down, going out less, buying a house, having kids, etc. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I definitely feel like I'm visiting an "old neighborhood" every time I partake in a younger friend's outing at a loud, expensive bar/club when I'd be simply happier at home. I guess I know I'm getting older :P

    1. You old fart. haha. Yeah, I stopped hitting the clubs during the Reagan administration. Just the occasional blues bar now.

      Thanks, Mauricio.

  5. They remind me of the coelacanth which are related to lung fish and more mammals than fish. Maybe we will be extinct soon too. In fact I am still using the first ever iPod that was released. It works, so why throw it away? Now what about those beta tapes? Remember those? Why is it in technology everything that is a month old is outdated and in cooking, we cherish the ancient iron skillet? In the Philippines they have mud fish that crawl on land. really creepy when you see them cross the dirt streets at night.

  7. Hahaha! Hehehe. Love the haughty look of the one with her arms all akimbo. Gordons, as in Gorden's Fisherman??? Oh no wait, that's Gorton's. Sorry, my bad. Hehehe. I'm devolving, what can I say.
