Lucky Space Child

I was struggling with the Illustration Friday word this week, "Children' because I couldn't make a 'show and tell' gag funny that I had in my head, though I tried many times to rough out the idea. Finally I threw it all in the trash, and then out of nowhere I came up with this bit of weirdness. Yes, Junior will be happier with the eyes he was born with, but he'll never know the great things a guy can look up and see with eyeballs on top of his feet.
Hey, don't blame me for my crude imagination; I'm just saying it before one of you makes the comment. I'm beatin' ya to the punch(line). hee hee

  2. He is lucky indeed. Dad's curse is to go barefooted everywhere because shoes make him blind. :{

  3. BWAHAHA!!! I guess guys who are constantly able to look up women's skirts are bound to reproduce at some point...
    Juan Carlos has a good point! Hopefully they're not too close to the sun. Wouldn't want the sidewalks to heat up!!

  5. I think I would actually like to see what didn't make it here and ended up in the trash...it must have been good (juicy?)if this one is a good margin to judge by!!...It reminds me of mirror shoes...were they just a myth? or were they reality Ted?...I can imagine your Mum saying to a child Mr.Ted...."Ted, how did you get through three tins of shoe polish this week?!!!!"

    Great work as usual Ted...very Funny!

    1. Thanks, Roderick.

      Regarding bad gag ideas, you wouldn't have wanted to see those rejects. In fact, they were so lame they weren't good enough for the trash can: they went straight to the shredder instead.

  6. Haha! I love this one! At first I thought the dad had no eyes at all, and had a grumpy look on his face because that made the comment rather rude! And then I saw his feet. Hilarious and very well done! Give me weird and quirky humor every day of the week! We don't need to resort to, er, bowel movement humor at every turn, right?
    ;D

    1. Well, some people prefer bowel humor ALL the time, but not me! Thanks, Cindy.

  10. Love this gag! Simple, traditional, but really humorous with the alien twist you gave it. Poor dad!
